The Biomet Magnum metal on metal hip implant settlement announced last year is proceeding forward. All of the participation percentage requirements have been met. The original deadline for individual settlements to be completed or for cases to go forward in litigation was December 31, 2014, That deadline was extended to January 30, 2015 and is expected to be extended one more time until the end of February.

The Biomet Magnum metal on metal hip implant litigation was coordinated in the federal courts and all of the cases were sent to the U.S. District Court in South Bend, Indiana. There have been no jury trials of any of these cases. Biomet offered a settlement program valued at over 100 million dollars last year shortly before the announcement that Zimmer, a competing orthopedic device manufacturer would buy Biomet. Both companies are in the small town of Warsaw, Indiana.
