The original deadline for individual settlements to be completed or for cases to go forward in litigation was December 31, 2014, That deadline was extended to January 30, 2015 and is expected to be extended one more time until the end of February.

Biomet offered a settlement program valued at over 100 million dollars last year shortly before the announcement that Zimmer, a competing orthopedic device manufacturer would buy Biomet. Both companies are in the small town of Warsaw, Indiana.
